Muukkonen, Erkki (1945–2004)

Erkki Muukkonen (born in Pielisjärvi, Finland) graduated as a cantor organist from Kuopio in 1964. He continued his studies at the Sibelius Academy in 1964-69. Led by Kurt Masur and Arvid Jansons. Muukkonen has studied composition in Hungary with Sandor Szokolay in 1980-81.

Erkki Muukkonen has acted as accompanist, arranger and composer on Finnish and Swedish radio and television programs. He has also been the conductor of the Savonlinna Orchestra and the music director of the Finnish congregation in Stockholm. Most recently he was a cantor of the Lohja parish.
