Kari Juhani Tikka (13 April 1946 Siilinjärvi – 17 October 2022 Helsinki) has worked e.g. as an oboist, conductor, composer, festival director and pedagogue. He completed his longest working career, in the years 1970-2011, as the conductor of the Finnish National Opera. Along with a couple of hundred choral and solo songs, Tika’s most significant compositions include the operas Frieda, Luther, Tuuli puhaltaa and Judit. There is also plenty of orchestral and chamber music in the production of this student of Joonas Kokkonen and Einojuhani Rautavaara.
