Carita Elisabeth Holmström (formerly Holmström-Ilves; born February 10, 1954 in Helsinki) is a Finnish pianist, singer and composer. During her career, Holmström has composed and performed jazz, light music and classical music. In 1974, he represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Älä mene pois”.
Holmström studied piano first with Izumi Tateno and in 1973-1974 in Stockholm with Gottfried Boon. He completed the piano diploma of the Sibelius Academy in 1979 and gave his first concert in 1981.
From 1983 to 2018, Holmström worked at the Sibelius Academy as a piano lecturer. Holmström’s compositions include two musicals, a chamber opera, song sets for female voice and various instruments, and chamber music.
