Stein Eide (3 May 1953 -) is a Norwegian composer. Educated at the University of Oslo, and studies with Norwegian composer Maj Sønstevol, jazzpianist Egil Kapstad, and one semester with saxophonist Jan Garbarek. A Scholarship to the BBC Composers Workshop in 1991. Stein Eide is also a presenter/producer with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK.
A handful of TV-productions with Stein Eide as composer have received or been nominated to the international TV awards: “Prix Jeunesse”, ”Golden Chest”, ”Prix Danube”, and the Norwegian ”Gullruten”, while Norwegian radio drama productions “David Copperfield”, “The Weirdstone of Brisingamen”, “Tom Sawyer” and Jostein Gaarder’s «The Christmas – Mystery» were released on CD. Stein Eide was the main composer of the Nordic TV series “Myggan” (52 episodes from 1992, a collaboration between Swedish SVT, Finnish YLE, Danish DR, and Norwegian NRK).
